Catholic Charities relies heavily on volunteers to provide services to the poor and vulnerable of our community. From July 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007, we had 14,242 volunteers providing 420,500 hours of service. In order to continue to provide excellent service to our consumers…WE NEED YOU!

This page will help you to discern what sort of volunteer opportunity is right for you. First, Reflect on your interests and availability. Then, Review the volunteer opportunities that Catholic Charities offers. Finally, read the Requirements of all of our volunteers and Register for a volunteer orientation session.

REFLECT ON VOLUNTEERING

Do you like to work with children/youth?  Do you enjoy working with the elderly?  Do you have a special skill or talent?  Can you teach art or aerobics?  Would you like to volunteer with your group, or sponsor a one-time activity, or be a consistent individual volunteer working with us once a week?  What are your goals for volunteering – experience, addition to your resume, personal commitment?

Volunteers interested in sharing their talents also are greatly needed including those who want to share a passion for art, music, crafts, a language, any sport, or provide a quick yoga, dance, or cooking demonstration.

REGISTRATION & REQUIREMENTS FOR VOLUNTEERING

Thursday, August 28, 2008
Tuesday, September 9, 2008

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Monday, November 10, 2008

All sessions begin at 6:00 p.m. at 1000 Howard Avenue in New Orleans.

RSVP by e-mail volunteer@archdiocese-no.org or call 504-310-6960 at least one week prior to the session you wish to attend. Please feel free to invite friends or other interested volunteers.

All individuals will complete an application and provide references. Background checks and other supporting documentation may be required when volunteering for specific programs. Individual youth volunteers must be at least 16 years of age or completed 8th grade and enrolled at a local school requiring community service hours.

Group volunteers will complete an application providing group name, number of participants, and contact person. As group opportunities are unique to your organization, please allow enough time (2-4 weeks) for Volunteer Services staff to coordinate the activity with your chosen program.  Volunteer groups may consist of individuals under 16 years of age, but the group must provide their own adult supervision.
