Catholic Charities Opens Domestic Adoption List
During National Adoption Awareness Month

(New Orleans, LA) Beginning in November, in honor of National Adoption Awareness Month, Catholic Charities is recruiting families for its domestic adoption program. The primary purpose of Adoption Awareness Month is to honor and acknowledge the many families touched by adoption, said Danna Cousins, Director of Adoption Services of Catholic Charities. We think its the perfect time to open our domestic program to new families and share the success stories of our existing clients.

Rachel and Jacques Babin adopted their beautiful baby boy, Henri, through Adoption Services of Catholic Charities in May. It was such a wonderful experience, said new mom Rachel Babin. The Babins have an open adoption with Henris birth mother and visit with her every other month. Henri is such a great baby and we have such a healthy relationship with his birth family Its more than we had hoped for. The Babins are planning to adopt again and have recently re-submitted their profile for consideration by potential birth parents. We are so happy to be working with an agency like Adoption Services of Catholic Charities, said Babin. We had such a positive experience the first time around that we cant wait to do it again!

From November 2006 through January 2007, those interested in domestic adoption should call Adoption Services of Catholic Charities to receive a questionnaire. Prospective adoptive parents should be married a minimum of three years and be between the ages of 27 and 43, with no more than two children in the home. Families who are accepted into the program will attend educational classes and receive support and legal assistance to guide them through the adoption process. Catholic Charities also offers local supportive services to those adopting internationally. For more information, please call Danna Cousins at 885-1141 or e-mail her at dcousins@archdiocese-no.org.
