About Summer Witness:

This summer, about 1,500 low-income children have the opportunity to experience a real, free summer camp experience through Catholic Charities Summer Witness. Each of nine camps from the French Quarter to Westwego to Garyville to Covington gives children the chance to learn art, music, dance, school enrichment and self-esteem boosting skills for six weeks of the summer.

Summer Witness was conceived by Archbishop Philip M. Hannan 41 years ago, when he opened up the Notre Dame Seminary pool to children from the Desire Street Housing Development. To this day, Summer Witness campers get weekly visits to the Notre Dame Seminary pool.
