Vision for the Future |
|
| Catholic
Charities will continue to address the social needs of the Greater New Orleans area. We
will draw upon the culturally diverse gifts of all people as we embark on a new path which
promises greater involvement and empowerment of individuals, families, communities and
parishes. |
|
Relating to those we serve:
Catholic Charities will deliver quality services
and assist individuals and communities in discovery of their unique strengths and
resources.
We will:
- Focus programs on the outcomes or changes desired by the client or community.
- Involve clients and communities in planning and evaluating services.
- Promote self-sufficiency and mutual support.
- Develop a centralized case management system to allow clients comprehensive access to a
wide range of coordinated helping services.
|
|
Relating to Community:
Catholic Charities will build new partnerships and
collaborative relationships that help support healthy communities.
We will:
- Involve neighborhood residents on boards and planning committees.
- Raise community awareness of the needs, strengths and experiences of clients.
- Encourage preventive solutions and basic community needs such as education, job
development, public transportation, affordable housing, safety, health care, and day care.
- Produce a video-series which communicates both mission and services.
|
|
Relating to Church:
Catholic Charities will develop partnerships with
church parishes where, together, we plan how to best meet social needs in parishes and
communities.
We will:
- Assist parishes to identify local needs, resources, and opportunities.
- Offer training to develop volunteer-based ministries.
- Work with parishes to advocate for those who suffer injustice.
|
|
Relating to One Another:
Catholic Charities will create a work environment
for our staff and volunteers which supports learning and fosters the cultivation of each
person's talents.
We will:
- Encourage the development of leadership functions among all staff.
- Offer a wide range of opportunities to assist staff in developing career ladders.
- Hold roundtable discussions, focus groups, and other forums to stimulate information
sharing and collaboration across programs.
- Examine how our structure and policy facilitate empowerment.
